I began my baseball career as most do: playing T-ball and later attended Hays High School where I became an All-State Pitcher. I was then recruited by the University of Oklahoma where I was a Four-year Letterman.
While at Oklahoma I was nominated as an All-American and a Golden Spikes Semi-Finalist. During the summers at OU, I played in the Alaskan Baseball League and the Cape Cod Baseball League where I faced many different talents and learned many different aspects of the game. In 2010, I played in the College World Series, which was the last year it was held in Rosenblatt.
Finally, in the 2011 MLB Draft, I was chosen by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 26th round.
Since then,I have privately trained many baseball players and have dedicated my self to growing young baseball players into men and the next level of baseball.
I started playing baseball at the age of five and haven't looked back yet. I played Lockhart Little League through the 7th grade and began training with Coach Rocha my 8th grade summer. That's when it all changed for me.
I became a standout high school catcher and pitcher and was nominated as an HWSA All-American my junior year, First-Team All-District catcher my senior year at Lockhart High School, and I was selected to represent The Greater Austin Area in the Austin Area Baseball Coaches Association All Star Game. I continued my career at Hartnell Junior College, fulfilling a lifelong dream of playing college baseball.
I also began working as a strength coach at a state of the art athletic performance facility during my freshman year of college and fell even more in love with the world of baseball strength and conditioning while being mentored by the former head of S&C for both the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Angels.
I will be continuing to play baseball for the next several years and I'm excited to see where the game takes me. I will be applying everything I've learned so far, both on the field and off, to help you become a better, more complete player and person.
Coach Mike has been coaching softball and baseball in the Lockhart area for over fifteen years. He has had the honor of coaching all divisions including recreational, All Stars in various divisions and tournament/travel ball. He has coached all divisions in his coaching career from age 5 to age 15. Mike also coached his son and others to instill values like teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance and cultivate a strong sense of belonging and purpose. He loves coaching both baseball and softball as well as continuing to focus on making a stronger community of ball players in the area, while helping grow an organization.
I hope something that is learned from me gives a better chance at playing at all baseball and softball levels. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing the potential in a kid and being able to help them reach their goals and be the best player and person they can be.
